Increase in the number of foreign citizens

The number of foreign citizens in the city reached 26,000 at the end of March 2019 (Heisei 31). In addition, the acceptance of foreign human resources has started with the new status of residence, and further increase is expected in the future.

Therefore, from April 2019, the placement of a multicultural coexistence concierge, the expansion of the number of languages ​​supported by counselors, the introduction of translation tablet terminals, the legal counseling by conventional lawyers, and the new implementation of labor counseling by social insurance labor consultants. We are working to strengthen the functions of the Chiba City International Association Plaza, which is a consultation desk, and are promoting measures toward the realization of a multicultural society.

Contents of function expansion

  •  In order to respond to the diversifying and complicated life counseling of foreign citizens, we have newly assigned a “multicultural coexistence concierge” who is a counseling specialist.
  • In recent years, the number of Vietnamese citizens has been increasing, so we have assigned Vietnamese staff and the number of languages ​​supported by foreign counselors has increased to five.

  • We have introduced a tablet device that can use an automatic translation app to support more languages.
  • We have started labor consultation (once a month, free of charge) by a social insurance labor consultant.
