1 Outline of general health checkup for pregnant women

[Medical institutions that can use the consultation slip] In principle, it can be used at medical institutions and midwives in Chiba prefecture.
[Details of medical examination] The contents of the examination, measurement, urinalysis, blood test, ultrasonic examination, etc. are tailored to the pregnancy progress of the examinee.

[Notes on using the consultation slip]

  • Only one consultation slip can be used for each medical examination.
  • Not available when sick. (Cannot be used for treatment covered by health insurance)
  • It cannot be used in medical examinations to determine pregnancy.

2 About public expense burden

The city bears the following amounts at public expense. If the actual medical examination cost exceeds the public expense, you will be responsible for the excess amount. (Publicly funded health care may change depending on the year of consultation.)
In addition, even if you use the general health checkup subsidy program for pregnant women (reimbursement payment) such as going home, for reasons such as going to a health checkup institution outside the prefecture. This amount is the upper limit.

3 Issuance of consultation slip

(1) Issuance to those who have been judged to be pregnant at a medical institution and will be issued a Maternal and Child Health Handbook.

When the Maternal and Child Health Handbook is issued, a separate volume of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook with the consultation slip will be handed out at the same time.

4 Have a family doctor and get a maternity health check

During pregnancy, you should be more careful about your health. Get a health check at least once a month (at least twice a month after the 24th week of pregnancy and once a week after the 36th week of pregnancy). To protect the health of your mother and baby, be sure to have a family doctor and see them regularly.

  • In the health checkup, physical measurements and tests such as blood, blood pressure, and urine are performed to check the health condition of the pregnant woman and the growth of the baby in the stomach.
  • Diseases such as anemia, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes can affect the growth of the baby in the stomach and impair maternal health.
  • By undergoing a maternity health checkup, you will be able to quickly notice illnesses and respond quickly.
